Since there are differences between standards of safety compliance, we will try to isolate the differences as clearly as possible through
tables or other necessary formats. We will essentially be dealing with three different standards:
- IEC 950 (Information Technology Equipment, I.T.E.)
- IEC 601-1 (Medical Equipment)
- UL 1310 and CSA C22.2 No. 223 (Class 2 Equipment: Power supply with Extra Low Voltage and limited output power, North America only). For example battery
charger, direct plug-in and cord connected power supply.
