Fremont, CA (July 21, 2008) — Phihong USA, the global leader in power solutions, has expanded its adapter offering with an 18W, 3-wire input 48VDC output version. Designated the PSC18U-480(P)-R, the adapter meets California’s CEC regulation, as well as the federal government’s Energy Independence and Security Act that went into effect on July 1. The PSC18U-480(P)-R, is ideal for VoIP telephone and videoconferencing applications because it does not inject into the phone line the audible humming noise that is associated with the performances of many other adapters. “Now more than ever, these energy-efficient adapters are a smart solution for OEMs because environmental regulations are becoming more widespread and will continue to do so around the world,” said Keith Hopwood, vice president of marketing for Phihong USA. The PSC18U-480 (P)-R has cUL/UL60950-1, CE, and TUV EN60950-1 safety approvals. The low-cost, Efficiency Level IV-compliant adapters meet Class B emissions levels while overcoming the issue of an audible humming noise being introduced onto the phone line. Approximately 4 x 2 x 1.5 inches in size, the low-profile adapter is encased in a sealed, non-vented, spill-proof case and features an IEC320 C14 inlet receptacle. Pricing is $20.56 each in quantities of 25 pieces. A detailed specification is available on the website at http://www.phihong.com/html/psc18u.html. Phihong is one of the leading suppliers of power solutions, including power supplies, adapters and Power-over-Ethernet products, to networking OEMs. With global sales for 2008 expected to exceed $550 million, Phihong has engineering and manufacturing facilities in North and South America, Taiwan and mainland China.
